You may just be dealing with a residual, secondary bacterial infection of the skin from all of the scratching. That's great what happened to Bear. Your veterinarian can provide an antibiotic for that.

If it only gets worse, I'd say get to the veterinarian and they can give him an antibiotic to treat the bacterial infection it's likely causing.
