Hello! New frenchie mom here with some health related questions. I did my research when finding my breeder to choose a puppy from a litter and parents that was healthy, and I found a breeder with amazing OFA certifications. She even did a Canine Health Check/DNA test on all of her puppies. The only issue is the random health situations that have popped up after his initial puppy exam within 2 days of getting him. Firstly, Alfie had to travel via a plane to come to us and within the first couple of days potty training I noticed something was off. I would take him outside and within a few minutes he would pee again inside, so I immediately thought he might have a UTI. Urinalysis confirmed he had a UTI, so he was started on 10 days of Clavamox. After that cleared he seemed to do better. We then travelled with him for a short trip 4 weeks later and noticed he was peeing multiple times outside and then some blood in his urine. So I rushed him to the emergency. They took a urine sample with a needle directly from his bladder and also did a culture on his urine. Neither showed a UTI, but did show inflammation. So they started him on Clavamox for 10 days again. See attached for urinalysis results. It has now been almost a month and he is doing great with potty training. No accidents inside. I wanted to have another urinalysis just to make sure everything is a-ok and it just came back with some issues. From the vet "The urinalysis showed some red and white blood cells and crystals in the urine. While these findings aren't immediately concerning, they do warrant monitoring. There is no bladder infection present." Obviously this is super scary, he is just a puppy. See that urinalysis attached. Has anyone else experienced this. I am now adding additional water to his food to try and lower the pH levels. I am just so worried about my little guy. He is eating and drinking normally, sleeps through the night without having to go out (but if he does wake up I do take him out bc I am worried waiting could hurt his bladder more). Since the emergency vet I have been giving him Zesty Paws Urinary Tract Bites daily, but open to something different if there is something better.

This is my most immediate concern, but other items of note:
  • Every time he drinks water he coughs. I have tried raised stations. Slanted bowls, everything and he still coughs.
  • Little man is STINKY! We have had to have his anal glads expressed 2x already and he loves releasing them at night in bed with us!!! He is on great food, Ollie (turkey) and some puppy dry food from Blue Buffalo (turkey) and his poops are great, but I have started giving him Glandex (4 weeks now) and it seems to help, but it is still happening. I have heard the anal gland issues are prominent for this breed.
  • We have a massive fenced in back yard and loves running around, but as a puppy he obviously puts everything in his mouth. Recently we have caught him eating bird/lizard poop, hence the poop bacteria found in his fecal sample upon this recent test. We now are only allowing him to go out on a leash to prevent this.
