Hi everyone our pup Jaques is 9 weeks old and in the last few days he developed strange bumps/hives on his back that raise the fur as well as small pink bumps on his belly. He is on the same food as the day we got him (taste of the wild) so I'm not sure what's going on. Have a vet appointment next Tuesday just figured I would see if

He could be having an allergic reaction to something. Is he itchy?

They don't seem to be itchy

Seems to be hives.... May be from a bug bite. bullmama. Is he too young for Benedryl?

No not too young, looks like hives for sure. It's 1mg per pound for benedryl, you may need to get tablets instead of capsule so you can break it in half.

Been doing Benadryl since yesterday seems to be getting a little better. Got the vet appt moved up to Monday, so hopefully we can figure this out.

I also realized that we had the grass cut the day before this started so I'm thinking some sort of grass allergy. Thanks for the suggestions!

If it is grass... Wipe him off paws and belly after each outing with a cool wash cloth. My English Bulldog is allergic to all thing green and i do this daily--- it does help

Hey my boy kobe has these hives. Trying to figure out the cause and man let me tell you its not easy. I thought it was the food so i switched it like 4 times. Now im going to take him to get an allergy test. Did you ever find out what it was?

Safari gets the same exact bumps when he's having a breakout. He will eventually loose the fur. Looks like a reaction to something.

Hello,
Our 3 year old frenchie, Ollie, has had these hives for about 3 weeks. I've taken him to vet twice. The first time she gave him a steroid shot and told us to give him Benedryl. 2nd time she did blood work (normal) and gave us prescription for hydroxyzine. no improvement. He has not changed food recently and no new detergents or other products in the house. The hives don't seem to bother him but they look terrible and I feel bad for him.

any suggestions?
thanks so much :)

could be something in the yard .... ant, spider,a tree or bush that he is allergic too?

Did you ever figure out what to do for your pup? My 1 year old Benny has them they are exactly like that in the same area. Any tips before I spend a lot of money at the vet?

Poor Jacques...Looks like the same thing Yuki has had. It came down to his food. Right when I thought I found the right food for him he would get bumps even though he had been eating it for a while. So I would try something else and finally found Fromm was the answer. I have always wiped him down after being outside to try to keep the environmental influences to a minimum and continue to do so. When he had a couple really bad breakouts, the vet put him on anti-inflammatories and Benadryl. I also put him in the shower and rinsed him with tepid/cool water and that helped. My suggestion is monitor where in the yard he goes if you suspect something out there. I know it doesn't make sense since he's been on the same food and all of a sudden he got bumps but maybe consider a change. It made all the difference with Yuki. Good luck and hope your little guy gets all cleared up soon. Keep us posted.

One of my Frenchies used to get these small bumps every once in awhile. It was allergies. Medicated shampoo helped a bit. The frequency lessened over time, and it never seemed to bother him. It was something, however, that I battled with for years.

Our Frenchie had the same thing when he was young. We ended up switching food , stopped using candles and Glade products, switched to vinegar for clean. Something seemed to work
