A friend of mine has a very beautiful white French Bulldog name Lola and she recently started to go in circle, looks like she is chasing something, she does it everywhere, floor, couch, bed etc...we have no idea what's happened to her, it all started at once and she's been doing this every day. It's like an obsession, help!! :(

I wouldn't be too concerned unless she is doing it all of the time. That is a fixation that can become a habit. Ginger will chase her tail several times a week, but it is only for about ten seconds and it is usually when she is feeling frisky and needs to release some energy. I think Lola might be bored and need more mental and physical stimulation - play time, exercise, give her a favorite chewy, take her where you go, etc. Does she have a companion dog? Good luck.

I agree, she probably just needs to be distracted like chase a ball, play tug, etc!

I have heard of dogs doing this, it's an obsessive disorder in some. I want to say it's more common in Bull Terriers maybe? Hopefully it isn't that bad, but I would talk to a Vet about it.

agree.... Bull Terrier is known for this.... it is an OCD issue and you should talk with a vet to ensure there are no neurological issues frenchjacky

Yes bull terriers are known for chasing their tails and sometimes biting at them Tgirl 2bullymama. We had a female bt that would obsess staring at the ground looking for a shadow to chase from a bird flying by, or if the sun caught the reflection of your watch she would pounce at the ground. I agree that they should speak with a vet to determine the cause of her going in circles. In the meantime I would definitely try and distract the dog from doing this and redirect her attention with a squeaker, fetch, etc. to release the energy in a more healthy way frenchjacky.

I also think this is known in other white dogs. Like white boxers.

Titan is so amused with flashes of light, but he's deaf so he's extremely visual, not showing any obsessive behaviors, but seeing that the Frenchie in question is white, I think that is also a factor.

I agree about directing them to something else, try to break the habit as much as possible every time they start this behavior.

Thank you for your answers and advise. Lola has been to the vet already and it is a disorder, she does it all day long. I feel so bad for her...I will tell my friend about your comments. I think she needs more time outside to play and more play time inside! Thank you all!
