Cold feet with new puppy

Hello Friends ,
Have a 4 year old Frenchie , allowed to roam house while my wife and I both work . He is only alone for 5 hours . Colt was crate trained up to 6 months ago . Would like to get him a friend this weekend but nervous about what to do with the puppy while we are gone . I’m aware he has to be crated but how will this affect Colts new acquired freedom . Are we messing up a good thing by getting a puppy?

Puppy would go in crate as you did with Colt. The second can be more of a challenge, at least they have been for us. But if you stay consistent with your least and training it will fall in place

Had the grandkids over for a swim day and Colt enjoyed the water also . With heavy regret , just don’t think a puppy would work out . Without mentioning names , had to contact our breeder and firmly believe we gave up on one hell of a dog .
