I try to keep Quella as healthy as possible. I switched her from Royal Canin to Orijen Puppy roughly a month after I brought her home from the breeder. I started feeding her Stella & Chewy's for her breakfast and continued on Orijen for dinner. Unfortunately because her liver enzymes are elevated and we don't have a cause, the vet recommended I take away the raw food to ensure she doesn't obtain any toxicity from handling from me as well as lessen her protein intake.

I've always given her fruits, veggies, yogurt and cottage cheese, but the more I think about it, I want to ensure I'm giving her the right quantities and nothing potentially toxic.

In the above pictures Q gets her 1/2 cup of food w/2 heaping tablespoons on a dairy product as well as a handful of strawberries, raspberries, carrots, hard boiled egg and peach, etc.

She has firm stools and seldom itching, so I'm assuming what I'm giving her is okay but as I'm venturing out to Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and asparagus, I want to ensure it's in her best interest. Because I'm feeding her the recommended dose of dog food, should I lessen it because of the added nutrients or continue as is because her weight is consistent for an 8 month old?

Also, I'd love to see other's feeding choices and quantities, especially raw.

XoXo from Quella La Roux and her mommy too!

My first thought was wow, she eats from a plate instead of a bowl. :) Jax gets 1/2 cup of kibble in the morning with either blueberries, strawberries, raspberries or blackberries. On the weekends I will add in a little bit of cottage cheese. For dinner, he gets 1/2 cup of kibble mixed with either green beans or a pea/carrot mixture. Sometimes I will give other fresh veggies or fruit that I have bought for the week.

I switched to plates when she was eating raw. They're unfortunately a lot of waste, but more convenient. Jax's diet sounds pretty close to Quella's, with the exception of dairy on the weekends instead of daily. Wonder what others will say.

Hudson gets one patty of stella and Chewy's in the morning and one at night (it's hard to keep weight on him). He also gets pumpkin, kefir, and coconut oil (which one depends on the day). I give him baby carrots as treats.

So, things have been interesting the past year. At first Quella would eat a dirty bandaid if I put it in her food bowl but the last 8ish months she has become a very very picky. I have wasted so much money on 3-5lb bags of food and most of them get returned after attempting to feed Quella a few cups from the bags. Luckily Choice Pet Market refunds the bags and donates them to shelters. She has been on different flavours of Fromm, Orijen, Acana and even some cheaper brands from Petsmart. She would skip breakfast and dinner so I would eventually give in and mix some wet food in which still wouldn't entice her so she has been eating wet food only for the past few months. Finally I put her back on Stella and Chewy's Duck Duck Goose Dinner Morsels since her liver levels are better and she can handle the protein. I found that she will eat Lotus Grain-Free Duck small bites as well. She picks out the morsels first then snacks on the Lotus throughout the day. She hasn't lost any weight throughout this process which I'm thankful for, but it was making me antsy because I didn't want her to have any nutrient deficiencies. Phew, back to atleast a little bit of normalcy.
