So we had Roux into the vet today for his post pick up check.

Overall health is excellent (4.4lbs @ 11wks).

Only issue is evidence of Entropion (Vets comment was very mild like 1 out of 10).
He believes that he will likely grow out of it?

Is this possible? I'm certain others on here have experience with this as it is very common from what I've read.

He is not showing any discomfort, no rubbing or pawing etc. Just some excessive tearing from time to time but no redness or damage visible.

Cheers,

Scott.

I have no direct experience, but I do not know of many that have 'grown out of it'.... usually needs some type of attenion

I would let a specialist look at it, sometimes they can pluck the eye lashes that are a problem, and sometimes that will work permanently, and sometimes you have to go back every once in awhile. I would not do surgery right now, because he could grow out of it. Just don't let it get too bad, as this can cause an eye ulcer, and they are very painful.

Thanks everyone!

My Shiba has to go to a specialist on Monday as he needs a checkup (Glaucoma) so I will try to see if Roux can tag along.

Cheers,

Scott.

Soooooo

Turns out it wasn't entropion but a dermoid cyst and a portion of his eyelid had not fully separated from they eyeball during development.

Here is a pic pre surgery.

He had to have the cyst removed and the skin attached to the eyeball as well (laser surgery). During the procedure significant scar tissue was discovered and removed as well

Post Surgery.

He is recovering nicely, the eye now moves freely and he no longer has the obvious discomfort or discharge he did pre surgery. The swelling is steadily coming down and after a check up w/the vet she feels he will only have a small scar on the exterior of his eyelid and perhaps a bit of remaining scar tissue on the inside but barely noticeable.

Also he is now 18.7lbs @ 5mos.

Seems like nothing can slow this little dude down!
