I'm so tired of switching foods. I thought Sojos was the answer for Penelope. She lost 2 pounds, very gassy, and pooped a ton more than usual. Her allergies improved immensely but the other side effects weren't good. I was feeding her 3 cups a day and all of her ribs were showing. I switched to a dry kibble and she gained her weight back. I am going to try Fromm and I'm hoping this will be the last food I'll have to try. She's 1 1/2 years old and I bet she's been on 10-15 different foods.

Wow, that is a lot of food switches! 3 cups a day sounds like a lot of food for a Frenchie. Wet food always means wet (soft) poop for my dogs so we stick with mostly dry kibble. I hope Fromm is the answer for your Penelope!

I agree with Alice. 3 cups a day does seem to be a bit much. Too much food can cause soft poop and too much pooping. Do you give a probiotic?

Have you tried giving 1 tablespoon per day canned pumpkin with wet food? Probably would solidify the poop if you want to get your dog off dry kibble again.

I bought Fromm and I'm keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that it'll be the last brand of food I'll have to switch to. Luckily, Penelope will eat anything so she loved her little bit of Fromm. I'm slowly introducing it to her. I just found out at my local pet food store that Sojos doesn't have enough protein in it and "can" produce a lot more poops. So, that would explain her weight loss and why I had to feed her so much. I'm certainly not dissing that brand, just giving my experience with it.

There are different brands you can try that get great reviews if you wanted to revisit the dehydrated raw route. There is The Honest Kitchen and Grandma Lucy's. But definitely see how she does on the Fromm.

I agree that Sojos Complete recipes do not have enough protein and that is why I feed the grain free pre-mix and add my own protein, which I rotate. I feed twice per day and they poop twice per day. Sojos Wild recipes such as Wild Boar, Venison and Wild Salmon have a higher protein content, but are a bit pricey. Good luck to Penelope and I hope you find the right food for her.

Spot Farms dehydrated raw is quite a bit cheaper than the other brands if you get tired of adding your own protein s. Only Natural Pet Grain-Free MaxMeat Air Dried Dog Food looks less expensive too.

In Canada it's quite a bit cheaper to go with Canisource Grand Cru fish (grain free) or beef (not grain free). The EasyRaw dehydrated raw wasn't too expensive at Petsmart in Canada (but more expensive than the Canisource ) since they're having monthly sales at Petsmart on the weekends if you prepay online.

Thanks! I just looked up Spot Farms and it has white potatoes which we can't do. Always a challenge finding a grain free AND potato free food. Only Natural Pet grain free could be an option though.

Fromm seems to be working so far. Allergies are less however she's been running into the swamps/high grass areas with her buddy, Robie the springer spaniel. She has enormous amounts of energy

That's great! And Fromm is rotational so you change flavors without having to do a transition which is a plus.

Hmmm, does anyone know if Acana is rotational too? I've just transitioned Molly over to Acana from Fromm, which I was hesitant to do because I really like Fromm, but she was becoming picky about eating it for some reason. She seems to really like the Acana that I've started her on......

I'm also a bit confused with her because she would turn her nose up to her breakfast and sometimes dinner until I switched her (and always have to include her raw venison to entice her), now she gobbles down her dinner on the Acana, but at bed time they get "night night cookies", which is just the little Fromm kibbles.... She goes for them with no fuss! Picky girl!!

Haha...silly girl.

I was wondering about the Acana too. Louie is eating Fromm right now but I was going to switch him to Acana at the end of the bag.

If Acana is 'all stages' you can switch between flavors

The OnlyNatural Easy Raw Turkey and Sweet Potato is working out great for my dog. I've been buying it on sale at Petsmart 30.00 off 100.00 weekend online sales. She's been hardly licking her paws at all compared to before.
