Hi all, my name is Sam and I am new to this forum. I have 2 frenchies, Peanut who is an 8 year old male brindle frenchie and Jelly who is a 16 week old female pied frenchie.
Peanut was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer on his left eye a bit over a month ago, one week later we went back and there was another, the first cream the vets gave us was irritating his eye more so we changed creams and added eye drops. The drops worked for a while and healed one of the ulcers. The second ulcer is not healing as it is under his third eyelid. The vet has advised surgery may be the best option. The recovery seems rough for Peanut as well as my partner and I with the post-surgery care.
We took Jelly to the vet today and she now has a scratch on her eye! The vet said to start eye drops in case but at the moment looks like nothing to worry about but they are probably accidentally scratching each other while they play.
They play pretty rough but they absolutely adore eachother and it’s almost impossible to keep them apart.
Has anyone had anything similar? How did you get rid of the corneal ulcer? Do you have any prevention methods I can try?
I feel so guilty and am very stressed.
We are taking peanut to another vet tomorrow for a second opinion as we are getting a bit tired of going back to the vet twice a week for over a month for the same outcome and I am worried about the extended use of creams, drops and antibiotics and the effect it may have on his health
