Hi I'm Dawn and new to this. I'm after a bit of advice on Frenchie Rage.
My sons 2 yr old male frenchie is the most loving boy but then the next minute he turns into a diff dog. Going for feet and hands. Snarling at my 2 dogs onr of which is his sister. They all get on until he switches n then he just has a look about him and you know he's about to start. Then afterwards he seems tired.
I don't know if it's frenchie rage, pain, attention seeking or something else.
Can anyone help?

What about putting him in a kennel when he gets that way. If he learns that when he behaves that way he gets a timeout and isn't able to participate with the family he will learn not to do it.

Hi. There isn't a kennel to put him in for timeout but tried putting him in a cage and he hates it. And he let's ya know! Lol.
So I have a living room and dining room where I shut the door so that he knows that no one is interested in bad behaviour.
We don't know what happened to him from 8 weeks old to approx 1 yr old. It could be related, I don't know.
Like I say he can be the most loving cuddly do n it's like a switch turns on n he's on one.

They never like the kennel. Even pups when I've had to kennel train them, the first couple of nights they can whine the entire time. You have to power through this. If you give in they know they can whine until they get out.

It's kind of like a child, you can't break or give in. You have to tough it out.

The one with the issue is my sons dog, he is the brother of my female.
I have had mine since she left their mother and she's soooo placid n doesn't have a care in the world.
But the male like i say went to live with another family when he left their mother and then they didn't want him so my son had him when he was approx 10 month old and he's been like it since he got him. So I'm wandering if anything happened whilst with them that made him this way. He can be such a loving boy n next min he's snarling n snapping. The snapping seems to be aimed at feet and hands. So I don't know.

It is very possible they abused him. You can break him of it but it will take consistent effort from everyone in the household.

We've had good results with CBD edibites from Pet Releaf for our Frenchie to help calm him when he gets stressed out. It's helped his stomach and sleep, and he LOVES the taste of the Sweet Potato Pie flavor.

Hi
That's what I'm thinking too. We are treating him like we treat my 2 and giving him plenty of love cuddles n reassurance. But always need to be ready for if he turns as the only warning we get is the way he looks at the time it's like a 'stare' andvya can see his brain ticking and then that's it he's on one.

There are a couple of videos on Youtube of Cesar Milan dealing with behavior like this -- those might be worth watching. At least it's a bit easier on a dog this size too :)

Could it be he is just wanting to play? Frenchie can be very wild.. I have an 18 month old that just goes into hyperdrive running and spinning all over, jumps up on me and try’s to bite my hands. I take him out in yard to let him get it out or I’ll take him for a walk . Other times, I play tug with a toy for about 10-15 mins and he crashes out.

Hi
We have tried all that to be honest but hes still the same. Sometimes some does look a bit like play or attention seeking to stroke him etc but then other times just out the blue he just changes with an aggressive tone n stance and snarl. It's weird it can be all peaceful and chilled everyone relaxing n he just sits up and ya see the look in his face and he's on one! No reason

Can you try to get video and post next time he does it?

Hi all, I'm Spanky's Dad and Spanky is a 1.75 yr.old brindle, Frenchie, whom we've owned for about 8 months. He's a lovable little guy 25 pounds, and thinks he's the Alpha in the house! What I see every day is this, when 7:30pm rolls around Spanky gets an "energy boost". Our other dog Penny is a Boxer\Chihuahua mix about 35 pounds, spayed since 8 months old, Spanky was neutered at about 9 mos., by his previous owner(who had 2 Persian cats, no other dogs. At about 7:30, Spanky, gets an energy boost and brings his "Kong" racoon out to play tug of war. After he's(excuse my French) sniffed Penny's privates he goes into, what I call "Demown Mode". His slanted brown eyes, turn red -yes red and they become round and look twice the size. He goes from tug of ar, to play snarling, fighting, and trying to mount, Penny's head. At this point if you try to intervene, he'll snap at you, and even nip, though not a full bite. At this point I either, grab his harness and start petting his back or tummy and he'll calm down or if not I put Penny in my bedroom. When he's in "Demon Mode" he's a different dog, almost like a werewolf, as he calms down, his eyes and "pumped up" stance return to a relaxed mode, and voila. AQs a last resort I put him in his cage, where he'll cry for a few minutes and then fall asleep. He doesn't view his cage\crate as punishment and at times he'll go in by himself because he likes his memory foam mattress. I think he acts like this because he was neutered "late" (9 mos.) and retains, the male urge.

I leave my 1 yr old in a pin and balcony when I leave to even check the mailbox he’s barking like I’m killing him. I put him in the crate to do the exact same thing it’s crickets! I don’t hear not a bark. Also he goes into destroying his beds.. biting holes in them, tearing the wee wee pads into pieces. I leave and comeback to 2 different things. I need help cause baybeee!!

Something similar happened to my little Tucker. He was the sweetest little puppy and never had a care in the world. When he was 4 months old, I had to go out of town for a week and a pet sitter watched him for me. I had someone else watch my two mini pins. She had other dogs at her home. When I got him back a week later, I didn’t notice anything amiss UNTIL I went to feed all three of my dogs. Prior to going on vacation, they would all eat together, side by side. I placed all three pet bowls down with food and Tucker turned into the Tasmanian Devil attacking BOTH of the mini pinchers! I was shocked! I separated them immediately and called the sitter. She apologized and said that he had learned that from one of her dogs that was “food proud”. 2.5 years later, and trying everything I can think of, I still can’t break him of that awful habit! Other than this, he’s absolutely the sweetest boy ever! I, of course, continue to feed them separately. I have tried everything I know of to break him of this habit to no avail.
