Good afternoon :)
i went to our local pet store Luckypetla, who carry really good food brands.
the owners wife was there and recommended me to put chowder on Fromm kibbles. (as much as i want to feed chowder RAW or stella&chewy, the cost + preparing is just too much for us)

Now they recommended us putting chowder on the Fromm 4star food as opposed to the the Fromm Gold Puppy food. i wanted to ask you guys if you thought that was okay. from what they told me, fromm gold puppy food is not Grain Free, but the 4 star is. Also they gave us 5 different flavors (beef,surf&turf,turkey,etc...) and i didnt want to keep switching flavor to chowder, because i wouldnt know what works well for him and what doesnt. What do you guys think?

Chowder is on Kirkland Puppy formula 3 times a day a little less than 1/2 cup each serving. He also gets nu-vet and 1 pill of probiotics a day (trader joe's brand). Also he occasionally gets pumpkin mixed in, with his food and ACV as well. Let me know what you guys think will be good, and we'll go from there thank you!

I just quickly googled it and I seen that some of the 4 Star Formulas still contain grains. But some of them are grain free. The ingredients look ok. I personally dont like that they use a lot of rice and potatoes but thats just personal preferences.
I would actually recommend switching flavours every month. This way you offer a variety, every formula/flavour offers different nutrients and rotating the protein source can prevent food sensitivities.
Great that you add some Vitamins/Minerals. Whenever you have fresh vegetables/fruit in the house give him some as a snack or mix it in with the food and he should be a happy camper :)

I feed the Fromm grain free pork and peas to my guys and I am able to switch proteins or flavors as I wish, expect i can not use anything with chicken as my EB is allergic to it. The grain free are all stages and you can feed at any age

I want to switch to fromm as well. Is it frowned upon to feed canned food only and no kibble?

The puppy formula does have grains as well as a variety of proteins. I do like to keep my pups on it until they are about 6 months old simply because it has a little more fat content and puppies burn calories very quickly. I have however switched as early as 4 months old and you can switch right away. The best part of going to the grain free is the gas goes away!

I've been contemplating moving on to the 4 star right now (at 4 months). Would it affect his physique very much?

In the long run it won't, but he will probably be leaner and lose a lot of his baby fat. Eventually it does all even out. Excess weight is actually not a good thing anyway, leaner pups have a lot of energy and it's better for their overall health.

I think for chowder, ill have him on kirkland puppy till about 5-6 months old. (he has little to no gas, and good energy levels) he was actually considered very small compared to his litter. (@ 4 months hes about 7 1/2 pounds) so i want him to fill out a little bit.

Maybe in a month ill start switching over to Fromm 4star. yeah i think its awesome how you can switch over flavors with no sideeffects. Thanks all!
