Uh, (for the gazillianth time), that would be a "no".

Yep. heard that one a bunch. Nope, not a pug, thank you very much!
Foster Rocco, with his folded, shriveled ears, is often called a miniature English bulldog.
But the one who tops the cake for me is when one of my Frenchies was called a pit bull!

We get this pretty regularly with Hudson. I usually am tempted to say "umm..have you ever actually seen a pug..?" But we just give people a smile and say he's a Frenchie. I actually had someone argue with me when he was a puppy and say "wow, not with that pug face!!"

Rootbeer has been called a Pug or Boston on many occasions. Boston, ok. but Pug? When have you seen a pied Pug?! Once someone asked if he was a mini pitbull.

A friend of mine was telling me last night that her Boston has been called a miniature Pitbull several times. I had to laugh.

Because of his coloring Radar has been called a Boxer many, many times. Someone thought he was a miniature Boxer, which just doesn't exist... Same smile and gentle correction.

I actually had a vet say that to me about Cheli once.... needless to say, that vet is never going to see us again. only ended up with him cause it was a Saturday...

We've been asked a bunch of stupid questions, but never the Pug one!

OMG I'm glad I'm not alone! I've had people respond to my correction with assuming she's a Pug/Frenchie mix, saying they've never heard of a French Bulldog (WHAT?!), or simply going on and on about how much she looks like a Pug. Even after being corrected, lots of people keep referring to her as a pug. There's one guy I see at work pretty frequently that insists on telling me stories about his brother's pug. I assume it's because he just doesn't want her to be a Frenchie... hahaha  I shockingly get more people asking if she's a Puggle, even though she looks absolutely nothing like one. I've even had several people refer to her as a Boston... maybe understandable if she was pied, but I've definitely never heard of a fawn and black Boston!

I want to hug every person that walks up to us and is correct about her breed! At work a couple weeks ago, one guy practically ran up to us and asked, "does she do the noise?!" Whenever I tell someone how much I appreciate them being able to recognize a French Bulldog, they're always just as blown away that apparently no one else can tell the difference. Such a funny thing!

There is a pug who is in doggy daycare where I get my pups food and let me tell you, the BUG puppy looked more frenchie like than the pug.

I'm so surprised how often people think my dogs are pugs. If anyone knows anything about Frenchies or Bostons they will think both of my dogs are one or the other since they have similar markings, but usually they are called pugs. I'm pretty sure I caught Uma rolling her eyes once. lol! :D

I can see Uma now...
"Are your dogs pugs?"
Uma: is he seriousssss? *rolls eyes*

Ugggghhh - I feel your pain! I can't tell you the amount of times I've been asked if T is a pug. I have nothing against pugs, but they really don't look alike. This weekend at a dog park for a frenchie meet up, someone asked me if she was a full bred French Bulldog. Maybe because she's little? It still amazes me all the shapes, colors and sizes when you get a group of frenchies together. And none of them look like pugs!!! lol

We took Ralphy to the lake yesterday and a lady said to me "oh he is adorable, what mix is he? Do you know?" hahaha uh yeah pretty sure she had never seen or heard of a french bulldog ever :)

I know that a lot of people just don't know, but it's got to be irritating sometimes.

The only time it irritates me is when people INSIST on it and actually argue with me. Most people are curious and happy to learn more and be corrected!

I did have someone read me the riot act and get very snippy with me since I "supported a breed where they crop ears and dock tails." I was like ummm no... She insisted she knew because she used to work reception at a vet clinic and "just knew these things." I left that one alone because I knew she was going to get ugly about it.

Some people you just can't argue with. They know it all.

You have no idea how many strangers will comment on Uma's lack of tail and complain to me that I got it cropped too close. She has one vertebrae in her tail, it's really just about 10 pieces of fur. As cute as it is to me I get very annoyed when I'm scolded for doing something I did not do.
