Vlad was 4 when we added Ivan to our family. At first, he just about had a nervous breakdown and wanted absolutely nothing to do with Ivan. However, they soon were best friends and inseparable. One would absolutely not go the other. If one had a vet visit, they both had to go. In the winter, they would spend their time curled up together on the couch.
Last June, Vlad, at 13 years old, passed away having developed cancer in his lungs. We figured Ivan would spend his last few years as a spoiled only dog, but it was not to be. About a month after Vlad passed, Ivan was diagnosed with a large MCT on his liver. He underwent Chemo, but he passed away on September 20, 2018. I guess they belonged together. They were great dogs with wonderful quirky personalities, and I will always miss them both.
