Hello, everyone. We have a male, 1 1/2 year old male named Stitch. He's a great dog except for a behavioral issue we are hoping to get insight on. Stitch is trained, interacts well with our other 2 dogs (Bella, an 85lb. 12 year old Plott hound/boxer mix & Cayenne, a 55 lb. 10 year old Short-haired pointer/whippet mix). He's good on the leash and is an all around good dog. Except for an issue he's displayed. For some reason he has on about 5 occasions at this point, lunged at and bitten my wife once on the toes (once) and on her fingers. These attacks seem to come out of no where. Once he appeared to be napping with us on the couch then awoke suddenly and snapped at her fingers (breaking skin). Today she was breaking down a box, dropped it on the floor and her jumped up to bite at her fingers. These incidents aren't consistent and Stitch minds her when she gives commands. We have owned dogs for many years and Deb even bread Kerry Blue Terriers in the past. We mainly have owned mixed breed rescues, this is our first Frenchie. We are hoping to hear from anyone who may shed some light on the behavior or point us in a direction to get more information.
