So excited to be part of this forum. We are currently looking to get a French bulldog in Toronto Ontario. Any advice from any of you owners would be highly appreciated

Welcome to the site. When getting a Frenchie, please do your homework. Get from a reputable breeder. Stay away from the "fad" colors, (blues, Merle, black and tans) these colors are not true colors of Frenchies and are a disqualification in the ring. Try to talk to people who have bought pups from the breeder you are thinking about using and ask about their health the temperament.

Thanks David for your info. We are aware of the dad colours and we have found a couple of beewders who do not breed the fad colours. We are trying to get them to reply to us!

My main advice:

These dogs are very expensive to acquire and many are even more expensive to maintain.

Please research the myriad health issues you may encounter with this breed before purchasing. Spine issues, allergies, and soft palete and nares surgery are just a few examples.

Expect that potty training may take longer than you may have experienced with other breeds. Adult Frenchies can and do have accidents and you might have to revisit potty training or give a quick refresher from time to time.
