After the two months my poor Enzo went through with his constant drinking and urinating (urinating up to 25-30 times a day!) we finally found out why. After getting a ultrasound and knowing his kidneys and bladder are 100% functioning and a little research I found out it was diet related. I read on a consumer complaint website and it looks like close to 100 pet owners both dog and cats alike are having pets get kidney problems and even pass away from Blue Buffalo. Dogs and cats were having crystals in their urine like my Enzo and even some passing from kidney failure. Most of these reports sprung up since June 2014. I immediately switched him off of Blue Buffalo food and treats and put him on Fromm. Now after a week and being in the food 100% he only urinate 6-8 times a day WAY down from the 25 times. I am so lucky I stumbled upon this website and took him off Blue before he had anymore damage to his kidneys. This is just a warning to anyone experiencing the same problems and are feeding Blue to complain to them like I did! They had me fax all my vet bills and results to them. This was very stressful and scary to go through no puppy at 4 months old should have to go through what Enzo did! It could have been a higher than normal amount of a vitamin or mineral in the food causing this that not all dogs react from because my pug was fine on the same food just loose stools occasionally and even that is better on the Fromm. I'm glad I found this website and learned about the option Fromm!

WOW, so happy you figured that out before it was too late for your baby. You have him on a great food now, so hopefully he will start doing better now. So scary that so many people have lost their babies to this problem.

Wow- I'm really glad you found those reports. Seems as though Blue has been getting a lot of negative feedback lately, too bad because they were a decent food. Have they been bought out by a big box company? I'm going to do some digging to see what I can come up with.

Yay for you and Enzo! I have been reading a lot of negative things about Blue lately.

Now that you are on Fromm you wiII be able to mix and match, today Chance started mixing Surf and Turf Fromm with his Fromm Puppy

Thanks everyone I could not be happier he is better. Hopefully no long term damage with that. I heard a lot of their ingredients are sourced from China and that their factories produce household chemicals and human junk food from ex-employees who rant online. So you really do not know what is getting into their food. I am already mixing the lamb and lentils with the beef a la veg and both my dogs absolutely love it! They both always picked at Blue, probably knew something was up!

Glad you figured things out!! I've said before that Blue is the number 1 food we see patients on with high liver and kidney enzymes.

Wow so scary. Glad everything is good and you figured the problem

I fed Blue until recently too. I had read some complaints at one time about dogs becoming ill and vomiting and so I had been switching around food trying to find something my dog liked. He liked the Blue Wilderness so I stuck with it and then he started vomiting periodically so I put him back on Natural Balance LID, which is what his dermatologist recommends, and he hasn't vomited once since. I'm kind of disappointed actually. It bothers me that we can pay $39 for 11 lbs of dry kibble and have something be wrong with it that harms our pets. I almost feel like I should be cooking for him. Thanks for sharing that info. Very good to know!

Wow... That is great that you figured it out and have been able to get you babies both healthy! Great work Dad

Theres a great Website called Dog Food Advisor. It gives reviews (good and bad)
on most dog foods out there, both kibble and raw. You can sign up for their emails when any certain pet foods have been recalled.

Good to know. We feed Blue.

Same here, that's a scary thought!

Definitely going to look into an alternative, even though Isabelle's bloodwork comes back perfect across the board... I would like it to stay that way.

Edit: started reading about Fromm, there's a retailer 2 miles from me. Picking up some chicken a la veg tomorrow!

Yea this whole ordeal was very scary. I don't think all dogs are affected but it's ethier too much of a vitamin/mineral or a ingredient causing buildup on crystals and protein in the kidneys/bladder. And I've read a lot of dogs have GI problems on Blue as well so somethings going on to give a healthy 4 month old puppy early kidney failure!!
