Peeing in house issue

Hey all

I've been having issues with my 2 year old peeing in the house. I literally have tried everything to try and prevent it and take him out before I go anywhere and at least every couple of hours (my job allows me to be around him most of the time).

The issue I have is when I leave. He is crate trained - but hates it and does okay by himself out of the crate when I'm gone. I stopped crating him because he would chew the bars and he broke one of his canine teeth so I decided to give it a try and just leave him be when I left. The issue is it's always when I'm gone so I can't catch him doing it and therefore can't scold him for it (which i'm pretty sure isn't the right thing to do anyway).

I'm sure that it's probably some sort of separation anxiety issue - but I seriously can't figure out where the pee comes from. He will pee like a camel before I leave and then somehow pee again. It seems to be getting worse as well. Any blanket or soft area gets it the worst - particularly my suede couch (f***!).

I don't think it's related to any kind of health issue. Everything seems normal.

Do you guys have any advice on how to proceed?

Can you try confining him to a smaller area? We totally failed at crate training so whenever we leave Jax home alone, he is confined to the kitchen with his bed. We always take him out before putting him in there and he rarely has accidents but when he does, it's an easy clean up and nothing gets ruined.

Great advise from Citty. I would purcahse a baby gate and confine to bathroom or kitchen or laundry room with tile or easy clean floors. I would not give him run of the house while you are gone if he's making a mess. I confine my boys to the back yard and they have access to the garage through the doggie door but that's it. I don't allow them in the house if I'm not there. Too much for them to get into. Suade couch? YIKES. That's ruined now. Not good!
