Piper is the sweetest Frenchie girl and is looking for a family to snuggle with on the couch. She loves to go for walks, snuggle, and carry toys around the house. If you are looking for an only dog, Piper could be the girl for you.
Piper LOVES children and would enjoy being adopted by a family that has dog savvy youngsters for her to play with. She is very tolerant of children and very affectionate towards them. She's pretty mellow and likes to hang out on the couch or in the sun and loves to snuggle. She is also very generous. Piper loves to bring presents to her humans! First thing in the morning, or when her foster family comes home, she'll greet them with a gift - a slipper, sock or stuffed pet as an offering. Piper LOVES her walks and sniffing around the neighborhood and she needs at least two good walks a day to manage her weight, with a nice midday potty break walk as well.
Piper cannot live with other pets. She must be an only pet. She is very protective. Piper will lunge and bark at other dogs while on the leash. On occasion, she will do the same to strangers. We don't know if this is a leash issue as we didn't want to test her off leash. We've been told that her aggressive behavior seems pretty correctable and she has responded to corrections in her foster home. Her new family will need to be committed to working on this issue once they adopt her. We have not been able to observe if she has any food aggression issues around other dogs. Although, with people she is fine and seems pretty easy going around her toys.
Right now, Piper is in good health. She has a semi chronic ear infection in her right ear and a tendency to gain weight. She also has been diagnosed with a minor hernia, but the vet says surgery is not recommended and it is so small that the chance of a problem is very slight. Her new family will need to keep an eye on these health concerns when they bring her home.
Piper is housebroken, but she has had a few accidents in our home. Her new owners will need to teach her their potty break schedule and it may take a few days for her to get the hang of it.
Ideally, Piper should be placed with a family that has time and commitment to take her on her walks. She needs the activity to keep her weight down. Piper is a very sensitive, protective dog, she may not easily be able to live with other dogs, but in the past, her old family had multiple dogs. Piper has very minor Frenchie health issues so it would be ok for her to live with first time Frenchie owners as long as they have experience with dog aggressive behavior.
Piper would be able to thrive in any type of house or apartment as long as she gets a proper amount of walk time daily. She is ok in a crate or in a small part of the house for a couple hours at a time. Piper can be left at home while her person is at work as long as someone can come home at lunch to take her for a walk.
