I have an almost 9 month old frenchie who very rarely plays independently. Is this the norm?

Yes, it is... they tend to need a playmate or you to interact with them.... at lest that has been the case for my two

I started with one and now have 4. if you aren't playing with them then they tend to get lonely and some can even get spiteful when being left with their own thoughts lol I have two males and to females. my biggest problem is when they have the zoomies at the same time and run around my house crashing into things. I feel it was the best thing I could have done. my oldest Frenchie is never lonely anymore and when he wants to sleep or be in my lap the others entertain themselves. I never worry or feel bad about taking one to the vet and leaving the others at home or making them take turns going on car rides. they never have to wait at home alone because they have each other
