Our rescue boy Oakley came to us with very inconsistent eating. Not great food and not the same food meal to meal. Not to mention lots of table food. I'm used to feeding my previous Bostons Natural Balance Sweet Potato and and Salmon. I don't think the previous owners understood the potential side effects to poor nutrition...especially for these dog breeds.
We have had him for 2 weeks now and we have struggled getting him over to dry food at all... Much less a high quality food. I do understand that if they get hungry enough they will eat what you have out but he lost a good amount of weight so we started just looking for a food he would eat and adding a healthier wet food and have been transitioning less wet and more dry. The only dry, out of 4 we have tried, that we can get him to eat in Purina Pro Plan. Not my top choice by any means but progress. So here is my question.
Trying to make the last move to eradicate the little bit of wet we are adding: I am thinking that adding some salmon oil to the food will help with the final transition. Does anyone have a recommendation of a salmon oil we should try?
On a side note, Once we get him completely to dry food and stable on that food, we will then transition him to a better food.
