We try to take our pups to a park to get out and explore at least once a week or to the Pet Store with us just to get out but it seems that every time we do that they both get sick and puke. Is this normal and if so when will go away?

How old are they? When Jax was younger, he would start drooling in the car and always throw up. He’s 7 now and has gotten better but will still spit up a little bit sometimes. I had Googled some things to try but none worked for Jax.

I don't have any experience with this but hope you get to the bottom of it because I'm sure they'd love car rides once they weren't getting sick!

you can use Dramamine, but I forget the dosage, call your vet And ask what the dosage would be for his weight

Luckily none of ours have never gotten car sick. Thank goodness since I would drive out of state to dog shows. :) I have heard Dramamine, can help, but I don't know the dosage.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! He's 6 months and she's 2. It IS a shame, because of Covid that's pretty much all we can do -is go on drives. Don't feel good about leaving them at home while we're out...
I'll ask the Vet about it..

Thank again!

You can try reconditioning them. For example, go sit with them in the car and give treats. Do that for a couple days and then next time, turn the car on. Do that for a couple of days and then next time drive around the block, etc. I always make sure that Jax has eaten at least a couple hours before getting in the car.

I think I remember a recent thread on here where it was the music that caused the issue for their pup. Someone had changed the bass/treble settings and the dog had an adverse reaction.

Mine aren’t too fond of car rides if they’re not on our lap or if the window is closed but they don’t get sick, sick.
