Hello, I would like to introduce myself to members of the French Bulldog Forum. I have had many different breeds and mixes of dogs over the years, being a “ foster failure”, with anyone who showed up on my doorstep, or that my vet needed care in the home for due to illness or just old age, finding a permanent home with me. Currently, however, I have 2 adult French bulldogs ( Zac and Cookie) and 6 delightful, growing Frenchie puppies. I adopted Zac as a puppy in 2015, after wanting to have a Frenchie for many years. In May 2024, I adopted 2 year old Cookie to help keep Zac company, as his life-long best buddy, a 14 year old terrier mix, had a rapidly progressive terminal illness. Cookie had chronic draining ear infections, a hematoma in one ear flap, skin issues and was quite underfed. I took her to my vet soon after her adoption, and Surprise!!!, Cookie was also expecting (no dates, and had recent questionable treatments for infections). Long story short, after a challenging pregnancy, she delivered 6 beautiful Frenchie puppies via c-section, truly each one an unexpected blessing. One puppy has cleft palate, which I discovered when he collapsed at 50 hours of life. He required tube feeding, making special formula and lots of extra care, but has been an amazing little dog and is now thriving and true to his breed, full of mischief!
So, to tell you about myself involves this story as most of my waking hours currently revolve around my Frenchie family: care, lots of play and snuggles, training and OMD cleaning after puppies! My hobbies: gardening, scuba diving, all kinds of crafts including needle felting, mostly all on hold as my hands are full with 8 fun-loving Frenchies running my household. I had previously avoided social media, but recently was looking for something else and found cleft palate puppy forums I wish I had known about when Harley was tiny, for information and to not feel so overwhelmed and alone with his problem. I have just started reading your interesting posts in this forum, which are replied to in a friendly and supportive way. I have joined to learn from other Frenchie lovers about our unique breed, also hoping I can contribute if anyone is needing help or advice concerning anything I have experienced with my Frenchie family. Thank you for accepting me to your group!
