Our 18 month old Frenchie will sit on the sofa and shake her right paw as she holds it a puppy inches off the sofa. She keeps her head low and cries. If we clap our hands and yell her name loudly she will run over and sit on our lap. She occasionally does it while sitting on the floor but mostly while sitting on the couch.
The vet told us to watch and she if it is only when the tv is on, but it’s not. Any ideas?

Welcome.

Can you post a video of it? Load to You Tube then attach link here

Does she always lick the air like that? The paw thing is odd, but it almost looks like what some dogs do when they have acid reflux issues.

Any particular time of day that you typically see her do this?

What are you feeding her and how many times a day? Is she a gulper?

“She only licks the air like that when she does it. No particular Time of day that I can think of. We keep food oin their bowls most of the time. They eat Nutro Max. I couldn’t say if she’s a golfer or not but she does often throw up pieces of dog food and clear or foamy liquid after she eats. “

Definitely looks like what they would refer to as a partial seizure. Another word they use is focal seizure. It would be worth the trip to your primary vet with video in hand and let them do a few tests on her. They will initially test skeletal and metabolic to determine if it’s something like that. This would rule out any type trauma, make sure no tick bites... they might ask about possible ingestion of toxins, low blood sugar, any type of pain...

If those tests come back good and they lean towards a seizure disorder, they might want to do an MRI and spinal tap to rule out brain lesions and such. This is only if they too think it could be a seizure.

Keep in mind seizures can happen for many many reasons. Anything from surgery and pain related and food allergy related to something like us... idiopathic epilepsy. No known cause.

Good luck and please keep me updated on what happens next.
