Hello there! My name is Michelle and i'm a soon to be new french bulldog mom.

I'm so sorry! I had this really long introduction typed out, but I guess I got timed out because when I hit "submit" it told me i needed to log in. Boooo!

Anyway, Tuko is a 10 week old fawn pied male who is still with the breeder. He was born with a small cleft palate and will probably need surgery to fix, so he will be staying with the breeder till that is taken care of. She invited me to go along with her to his vet appointment on July 1st so I could be involved in the planning process. Other than that small defect he is a very healthy, happy puppy. Fingers crossed that it's not a long road for him and that he can come home soon.

My other fur children are Loki ( 1.5 year old pembroke welsh corgi), Sirius (my almost 12 year old black pug), Lyric ( 1 year old gypsy vanner filly), and Henry ( 6 year old american quarter horse). Up until two weeks ago, I had two senior pugs, but Tankie (my fawn) very suddenly got ill and after a week long fight in the hospital he took a turn for the worse and the vet recommended letting him go. I'm still devastated by the loss of my baby. It happened so quickly that i'm still having trouble accepting that he's gone. In fact, I had brought him to the vet a month and half prior to him getting sick because I noticed he was drinking a lot of water and I wanted to have him checked for diabetes; he received a clean bill of health! I'm hoping having Tuko around will help distract Sirius (tank's brother) and myself from our grief and help motivate us to quit moping around. We have a lot of love to share with this new little one.

Anyway, here we are.

:hiya: :welcome3: to FBN!

So very sorry for the loss of your sweet Tankie

Sorry about your loss :(
Welcome to the site.

First, so sorry for your loss. I know how the new life I in a puppy can help heal that gap. Have you seen the "my name is lentil" site/blog/Facebook site? Lentil is a frenchie who had a double cleft palette, and has become an ambassador for cranial disfigured children. This may be old news, but just in case you hadn't seen, it's a great story. I teared up for sure! Hope your new baby does well through the procedure! Adorable puppy!!!

**corrected, should have been "my name is lentil"

Welcome to the site, and your new baby is just too cute. Sorry to hear about your Tank, and I enjoyed the pics of your other babies.

It's so nice to meet all of you! Thank you for welcoming me to the forum. I look forward to the tips, stories, and fellowship!

Beautiful pack you have. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss of Tankie. I have a Tank too he is a boxer. I'm sure he is looking down from the rainbow bridge wishing you would be happy for him as he's now running and playing like a puppy again. You will see him again someday. Good luck at the vet visit next week. I'm sure it will go fine and you will be able to bring your baby home soon. You have a good breeder there that is willing to take her puppy to the vet before trying to place her in a home. Enjoy your new puppy! They are so much fun!

Welcome, Michelle and pack. I enjoyed seeing pictures of all of your fur babies. I am so sorry for your loss of Tank. Tuko is looking forward to cheering up all of you!

I am sorry for you loss. I am sure all of us know how hard the time 'afterwards' is.

Defintely check out the My name is Lentil Page on FB, I 'liked' it and I love all the pics and stories Lentil(or his mom) share.

All you fur babies are beautiful!
I love how you celebrate all their birthdays.
I've been riding horses for 14 years now so I love the fact that I found another Frenchie and Horsie Owner :)

Hello!!

Sorry for the long wait, but Tuko is now home. I've had him for two weeks today and he is such a joy! His cleft palate surgery was July 10th and I brought him back to the surgeon for his second post op appointment last week. (his breeder brought him to his first one). He is doing great! He still has a small opening by the front of his mouth, which isn't unusual because the hard palate is harder to close than the softer, but it doesn't seem to bother or affect the pup in any way. The surgeon wants to see him again in a couple of weeks and then he'll make the decision whether there should be a revision surgery, or whether we can just leave it alone. He said it doesn't open into his nasal passages so most likely we'll leave it alone.

Anyway, he's the mellowest guy who occasionally shows some spunk and craziness, and he's brave as all get out. I have to constantly watch to make sure he doesn't try to jump off stairs or the couch, lol.

I've decided to change his name to "Hiccup" because he reminds me of the character from the How To Train Your Dragon movies. Kind hearted, courageous, loyal, and funny! I think the name really suits him, and it always gets chuckles when people hear it.

He's currently 16 weeks old and just under 10.5lbs.

I love this little guy so much. It's amazing how quickly you become attached. It has certainly helped the grieving over the loss of my old little man, Tankie.

What a cutie your Hiccup is! So sorry for your recent loss of Tank. I'm sure he will always hold a special place in your heart. It can be so difficult when we are grieving the loss of our four legged loved ones.
Happy the surgery went well on Hiccup too!!!

Hi and welcome!!! I seem to be late to this party, but your little guy is Sooooooooooo cute! We have the rather large 4-legged family as well... A rescue dalmation, a rescue hound, a 16-yr old Corgi, an 8-yr old Cairn terrier and our 3 Frenchies. Oh, and I have a retired thoroughbred hunter. She's 21. And a few cats.

Love the pics of your critters and can't wait to see more!
