The puppy that we are going to be getting in January will be eating Royal Canin puppy junior. I've heard not great things about this brand and want to change to something better, do I just switch straight over or do I need to make a gradual change? She will be 12 weeks when we bring her home.

Thanks

We got our first Frenchie puppy at 12 weeks and he had been fed Royal Canin. I carried on with it for a week and then started mixing Angell food with it, gradually a bit more each day. He seems to have taken the changeover really well. I think he may have a strong digestive system though as he also steals the other dogs food if I'm not quick enough to lift their bowls and sits in a line when they are having treats, so has had some titbits too. We have been lucky so far as what comes out the other end has stayed solid.

You should do a gradual change over a 7 - 10 day period by mixing 75% old food with 25% new food, then 50/50 and then 75% new with 25% old.

Perfect advise. :)

perfect advise! I would add canned pumpkin (not the pumpkin pie filling) to the food as well to help with loose stools. Just a little bit maybe a couple table spoons in each meal.
