Penelope is doing great on raw food except that she still tries to itch her bad eye. She gulps down the food and has adjusted well. I’m hoping for a call from the eye specialist tomorrow to be able to get her in soon to treat the eye ulcer.

Hope the vet can get Penelope in quickly and glad to read she took to raw so well. I've debated with a few people about the health benefits I've personally seen and the positive changes that have occurred in Daphne's skin and there just isn't anything else I think it could be attributed to but the higher quality food. Hopefully you will notice less poop on raw as well!

Less poop for sure! She does seem to strain quite a bit so I’m not sure what I need to add to her diet. Any ideas?

She was able to see the ophthalmologist today and her eye has healed. There’s still a scar on it but no procedures had to be performed or eye medicine. Yahoo! The cone is staying on for a while longer so she doesn’t disturb the eye.

Check out bone content of raw food you are giving her- should be 10% but some companies use 15% . You can add some canned pumpkin( not the pie filling one ) , about a tablespoon a day. I freeze a bunch of 1 tablespoon amounts, or I fill up an ice tray and freeze those and then pop the cubes into a zip lock bag once frozen, so I don't waste the can.

Oh my goodness, that is so amazing about the eye! Glad it is healed. Cone of shame for just a bit longer.... ;-)

I agree on the pumpkin. Freezing some in an ice cube tray is a fantastic idea. I wasted half a can once because I felt it wouldn't be fresh any longer after just a few days. I add pumpkin from time to time if I notice she is straining (it isn't often), but Daphne has so many dang allergies that I have to be careful. Hope it helps Penelope!
