Salmon oil

Hey guys I'm a bit confused about salmon oil? Any idea what brand to use? How much? And why? Is it really needed. I do want the best for my pup. Thank you

When using fish oil it is very important to keep in mind that it gets rancid FAST. And unless you know exactly where the fish comes from you may risk mercury poison.

We use Iceland Pure. It has a handy pump and comes in an aluminum bottle. It's out of Norway and we keep it in the fridge.

I was using Wholistic Deep Sea Salmon oil and kept it in the fridge. I am using coconut oil now 3 times a week just because I ran out of the salmon oil and have a giant tub of coconut oil from Costco.

[MENTION=837]Rany[/MENTION] mine is organic extra virgin coconut oil and it is cold pressed which means it is not refined. I believe that is what you want to look for.

Just got the coconut oil yesterday. As I am reading, looks like people add anywhere from 1 to 3 times per week. Sound about right? Work up to the 3?

Even though both oils have great health benefits they shouldnt be compared. Fish Oil is used to make sure your body gets enough Omega 3 so that the Omega 6 amount does not take over control (inflammation). Fish Oil is a great source of DHA which is absolutely necessary in growing puppies.
Coconut Oil is by far not as high in Omega 3/ DHA as Fish Oil.

Also once opened Fish Oil is only good for max 90 days. Then it turns rancid. Make sure you buy dark colured glass bottles and not plastic jars.
