Hello All!
I am a new mommy to an beautiful 8 week old Frenchie! I am super excited to have him in out family. I am eager to learn more about this breed and the way she experiences you all have had!
My boy is amazing. However, I have so many concerns regarding his allergies and food.
I see his coat(white and Gray) has a pinkish undertone and he is itchy often. I have questions re: when can I begin transferring his meals. I believe there is a much healthier alternative than what I have started him on, from his breeder.
Also, shampooing and fur care..anything I should be using to keep him fresh and healthy? Thoughts about Salmon oil?

I appreciate all feedback!! Looking forward to talking with you all!

Welcome to the group!
Nordiac Naturals or TerraMax Pro (there are so many brand out there but these keep ranking high on quality) Omega 3 capsules or oil given daily will help skin and coat. As far as transitioning from one food to another do it over 7-10 days. Start out with 75% of the food they are eating with 25% of the new, monitor how well they eat the food, if you notice any increase in scratching the skin or scratching both ears, monitor for reflux/vomiting and the texture and frequencies of the bowel movement. I typically do the 75%/25% on days one and two and 50%/50% on three and four 75%/25% on Days five and six then give 100% of the new food as long as no reactions were noted during the transitioning time. I will say one of my Frenchie has so many food allergies we ended up just paying our vet to do allergy testing then we read through the ingredients on dog foods until we found two that would work best for him. For shampoos I tend to stick to the hypoallergenic ones that moisturize the skin and coat. Also take in mind frenchie with the dilute black gene making the grey/ blue fur do tend to have more skin allergies and can also have CDA, they also tend to have more eye issues in general. For a new Frenchie mom, I would recommend researching and learning about if you haven't already are: CDA, BOAS, IVDD, Bladder stones. Having insurance on these little guys can be a wallet saver as well. We use Petsbest and it has saved us around 20 thousand dollars.
