Hi, this is my first time posting and I'd love to get advice on no pull training collars/harnesses for my 3 year old Frenchie, Aidan. He's a wonderful, socialized dog but my family and I are working on some behavioral issues with him. We've recently started working with a trainer to help teach him that we are running the show, not him. When we're out on walks, he will lunge at other dogs and also get very stubborn and just lie down when he feels like stopping. I'm sure most of you are familiar with the latter.
The trainer has been using a slip lead on him which makes me apprehensive because of the bronchial issues frenchies have with breathing. We make sure to only pull to correct him but he's very strong. We've been seeing a lot of success but I don't want to do anything that compromises his health. This morning he threw up his breakfast on his walk which really concerns me. Before the slip lead, I had him in a ruff gear harness that I loved but it made him pull more. I've always used harnesses because I was worried about stress to his next.
Any advice you might have on the slip lead - whether any of you have used it with success or have other recommendations that will help with correction would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
