Hi guys!

I know I'm just being super paranoid, but I'm a little anxious about my 1 1/2 year old male frenchie so I figured I would reach out and see if anyone has any opinions.

Late last night and into this morning he's been breathing a little different than normal. He's been making some reverse sneeze-like noises only once, but it happens every 15-30 minutes or so. He's been taking deep breaths that catch at the end and sound almost like a hiccup, and he's been swallowing more frequently and a little harder than normal. And he's been hacking like he has something in his throat but nothings coming up. He slept through the night, but was making the noises again this morning.

His energy levels been fine, I'm just wondering if this is allergies or something I should take him to the vet for.

I wouldn't say you're being paranoid at all! I do the same thing with Ella - if she even looks funny she goes to the vet. Its a Frenchie mom thing!

I would say if you're truly worried about him, maybe a vet visit would be in order. E was recently doing a similar thing, and I was a nervous wreck. :P She was breathing kind of fast (I think I actually posted about it on here!) when sleeping, swallowing a lot and making a sigh-ing noise every 10 minutes or so. I took her to the vet and we realized it was acid reflux from sweet potatoes! Once I got them out of her diet, it totally stopped.

Anyway, hope your baby feels better!

Sounds like reverses sneezing to me. My Frenchy gets scared when that happens to her and she usually climbs into my lap until it passes.
Flat nose pups are known for that. I had a Pug for 15 years that would do that and lick obsessively afterwards.

Is he still doing it or has it passed.
