Location: Austin area
Tootsie was rescued from a life in the puppymill as a breeder. She was taken in by a good Samaritan who realized she was not able to handle all of her issues. Her main issue is her very swollen and painful ears. She has chronic ear issues that we have been managing and some allergy issues too. This will be an ongoing medical issue her new family will have to stay on top of going forward. Tootsie isn't wasting anytime making up for the attention she didn't get early in life. Her name suits her perfectly. She loves attention and rolls right over for belly hers...we call it the "tootsie roll!"
She is falling into a great routine. She wakes up every morning ready to greet the day. She jumps and hops around. She runs to us to make sure she isn't missing out on anything fun. She loves to jump and do zoomies with her foster brother. She is still learning play and does best with dogs her size. In the afternoon her favorite activity is rest in the sun. Her tongue sneaks out of her lips and she just looks so happy. In the evening she is enjoying walks and being outside (since it's cooling down). At night she is happy cuddling up next to us. Of course she needs to be on her blanket or the pillow on the sofa but yet right beside us. Tootsie is loving life and loving life outside of a kennel. She doesn't prefer to stay in kennels anymore but she enjoys companionship while we are gone.
Tootsie is still getting allergies under control. She plays best with dogs her size, lives good with larger dogs (but doesn't interact in much play). She doesn't need to have smaller dogs in the home. She doesn't share treats well so we keep a close eye on her when food or treats of any kind are out (human or dog). She does get fed separately everyday.
