I am getting prepared for my future baby. It won't be but a couple of months now and I'm getting serious about getting supplies. I realize this is probably a silly thread. I think I'm just so excited that I had to post something.

This is what I have:
Food/water bowls
Name and number tag
crate
toys
shampoo
heartworm preventative
flea preventative
cute bag for her belongings when we vacation :D
collapsable water bowl for trips

I already have some baby gates and a pen (maybe like an x pen) that I can use if I ever need them.

Things I am getting for sure before she gets here:
Food
collar and leash
crate pad
zoom groom
antlers and nylabone for chewing
snout soother for her wittle nose
training bells so I can teach her (hopefully) to ring them to go out
dog bed

Things I am getting soon after she arrives:
harness (I want to take her in for fitting)
jackets/sweaters
stroller

Is there anything else that I need? I may be forgetting some stuff that I have already bought her. I have various toys and things put up I have bought within the last year. I also work at a Veterinary hospital and will be getting ear cleaner, ect as I need it from there.

Quite impressive list already. Perhaps to add towel and baby wipes.

Also from pharmacy some general skin treatment such as Betadine, in case you do camping etc with her.

Mo sometimes gets small scratches from branches when zooming free in the forest and it's good to have something to put on them around the house.

Also quick stop is good to have in case you have accident when trimming nails. Happened to me once and I was so grateful I had that stuff near by, it really stops the bleeding on spot. mo hardly even noticed the whole thing.
Oh, and proper nail clippers.

And paraffin oil....useful if they gulp something they shouldn't. That helps the stuff to go through.
I'm personally getting almost paranoid to have all "emergency" supplies available. These things always happens so fast so I guess it's better to be prepared :)

Getting excited here as we'll :D

Thank you, some good ideas there. I have betadine and a pretty good first aid kit already. We do camp (even more now that we have the new camper). As far as nails, since she is used to them being dremeled instead of cut, I am going to try that. I do have good nail clippers though. I guess I could get some quick stop but I've worked at a Veterinary hospital for 19 years and I've cut soooo many nails that it's been years since I quicked one. (I probably will now that I said that lol). Baby wipes are a good idea! I will definitely get some of those.

Oh, gosh!!! The time is getting close!! How exciting! I can't wait until you get the little Twigster girl!!! She's such a doll!!

Good idea about the first aid kit! Make sure you have Benadryl (Childrens) on hand. :)

This household also goes through some baby wipes (natural unscented of course) for dirty little butts :)

I think you've got it covered! I just love your enthusiasm as you prepare for your new baby's arrival. She is a lucky girl!

Sounds like you are getting ready. Using a dremel for nails works pretty good, and doesn't take much practice. Get regular Benedryl, the 25mg. per pill kind. Usually one pill will be enough, but if they get hives, you can double the dose. Unscented baby wipes are a must too. If you get Sentinel for heartworms, it also works for fleas. We do not use flea stuff for ours, the Sentinel keeps them at bay. Can't wait for you to get your baby. :)

Thanks everyone! I always keep benadryl on hand just in case, for the kids or the dog LOL!
davidh the Rep at work gave me 12 months worth of Heartgard for her for heartworms. We don't carry Sentinel anymore, but I bet one of the Reps could get me some. It's been several years since I have used it but it does work well. I have Nexgard given to me for her from the same Rep. I also have Bravecto coming that is supposed to be one of the safest things by mouth now. I still worry about the oral things though. I may just stick with plain old Advantage.

Oh, she will be sooo spoiled rotten with a mama like you :) You seem to have everything covered, now just few more days of patience.
I use Bravecto with Moses. This is his second summer with it and no problems at all. It works like a dream!

For some reason this summer Southern Finland has been really bad with ticks. We have also got new tick breeds spreading from Siberia...yuck! Bravecto seems to work well with them all. They really die on spot when attached to a skin and hence don't spread any nasty diseases. I only wish there would be a similar med to humans as well.

I check Mo several times a day for ticks and pick out those that has not attached themselves yet.
He sleeps with us in the same bed, so I'm quite obsessed with that and cannot stand the idea that there would be ticks among us :fie:

Thank you so much for the kind words. I have been wanting a French bulldog for years and the time just wasn't right. Once I started sort of looking I found a great breeder that was going to retire her after her next litter. I've been waiting since last Sept/Oct. It's a few more months of patience, I wish it were a few more days! Seems like it's been forever already. I can't even explain how excited I am. I've pretty much driven everyone crazy talking about her for a year. My family, extended family, friends, coworkers, random folks LOL.

I'm glad to hear feeback about Bravecto. We just recently started selling it so I haven't really heard what people are saying about it yet. We had a Rep come in and do a presentation about it, and I love the way that it works in dogs. Seems really safe. We have a lot of ticks here and she will have to have something especially when camping and such.

This is so exciting.... I can't wait for you to get her -- it seems like forever that you have been waiting on your new girl!

Your gunna be such a good mama!!! Sounds like you have everything under control and then some! So excited for you!

Thanks everyone. I am so excited that I might burst!

Tgirl, you have been busy! :) Can't wait til this board if filled with pics and stories of Twiggy's exploits. How about hydrogen peroxide, cotton balls, vinegar and dog shampoo. Bambi has trouble with her ears so I have to clean them every other day. (Going to the vet this week.) She can go at her feet, too, so Saturdays is spa day where she gets a foot bath with shampoo. Once I rinse her real well, I put each paw one by one in a Tupperware container with peroxide and vinegar. Then we towel dry real good and blow dry, then nails. Twiggy will be so worth the wait; you won't even believe it.

I always have vinegar; I use it for lots of things around the house. I have the other things as well. I have a wonderful shampoo bar that is locally made and I've been using it for a long time. I have ear cleaners available at work so I am sure I will be picking up one before she comes. That's a good idea about her feet. Bambi is lucky to have come to live with you!

Hi David - we use Sentinel too, for heartworm (chewable tablet). I didn't know it worked for fleas / ticks also? I use a topical solution (Parastar) for that.....

Sentinel works for fleas but not ticks. It doesn't actually kill the fleas, but prevents the eggs from hatching therefore stopping the life cycle.

I get the 6 month heartworm shot and then use a topical for fleas/ticks. Never had a bad reaction, so I stick with what I know. It also doesn't help my hubs is MAJORLY allergic to flea bites, so we can't have our dog that sleeps with us having fleas haha!
