Bulbous area under jaw *Update*

I’m in Ontario , Canada , he gets Royal canin french bulldog puppy which I believe is chicken . He’s always done well on it
Sadly, RC food at least in the US is nothing but fillers and chicken just doesn’t do well with bulldogs of any type. You should think about changing her food to a higher quality kibble if that’s what you wanna stay with and start out with duck or turkey.

Is this just for the regurgitation/gagging? I’m not sure if changing the food would help with his breathing issues . He’s been on this food since we got him at 9 weeks and has always done fairly ok on it as far as I can tell

Yes… it could be related to both.. the acid reflux and regurgitation could be impacting his air way.

Totally up to you, but just because he did ok on it doesn’t mean it isn’t an issue now. Regardless, processed chicken is a VERY common issue for bulldogs. my first two had major issues with chicken. Our female bulldog would break out in hives and her face/throat swelled that we ended up in ER with her.

Oh that’s terrible , I’m sorry to hear that :( yes I know chicken can most definitely be high in the allergy scale that’s for sure , I guess I just didn’t think the two could be related ( more so for the airway issues ) . I will definitely look into it when we visit the surgeon in a week , thanks for the tip!

Just a heads up… vet will probably tell you to go on a prescription food, which is no better than what you’re already feeding. If they say it’s not the food that doesn’t mean they are right just keep in mind a vet just like a human doctor gets about two hours of nutritional training during their schooling.

If you do decide that you want to change foods and you’re staying with kibble go for a high-quality kibble like open farm, orejin or Zingnature … go with turkey or duck protein.

I opt to feed raw but it is not for everyone, which is why I gave you the options of the three brand of kibbles above. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you I appreciate the advice! I’m going to try and get him in sooner with the surgeon to see what they think I’ll keep you posted šŸ¤žšŸ»
