Seemed to have gotten a little bigger the last few days.

What is your dry food.....she is licking and rubbing her belly it seems....usually start with the food as main source of allergen !

Allergy to something.... like Terri said, start with the food..... :)

If there is wheat, corn or soy in your dry food, quit it quick and try a gluten free food......My frenchie ONLY eats Dave's All Natural Delicate Chicken formulas----rarely gas and never an allergy!

My Emma also had these and I have changed her food many times. I finally found a food that she loves and is great for her skin and reduced some of her shedding.
Holistic selects.

Thanks guys! I am currently feeding acana puppy kibble.

Recently, his belly has gotten a little worse. Never had a problem with the food for the last 1.5 months. I will see what else is out there for him to try!

What type of kibble is everyone feeding?

It could also be something on the grass or the grass itself he is allergic to.

I would personally say it looks like some sort of contact allergy/irritation. I wouldn't jump to changing foods quite yet. Maybe trying a antihistamine first and if that doesn't help a short course of an antibiotic (a trip to the Vet may be in order). I would wipe down his belly after coming in from outside and see if that helps a little.

Correct. I would get to the vet before changing foods.

Norm had a spot like that on his side. I took him to the vet and they said it was a Histiocytoma. They took a sample of it to make sure it was benign. They told it's pretty common for dogs to get them. They gave me some kind of a spray for it and said it could take a few months to go away. It was gone a month later and he hasn't had any since.

could be environmental allergies too.... wipe his belly when yo bring him in from outside and maybe give a Benedryl 1mg per pound of pup

Michael,
i never give benedryl unless absolutely having wet lung/coughing issues- it weakens their immune system. And everyone should remember that the word puppy on dog food bags is for the human- to make you buy them and they are usually priced more. If you actually compare labels on a maker's dog food and their "puppy" food there will only be a few percent difference in fat and fiber for example- their can be great difference in protein.I feed all of my dogs 25% protein and 10% fat....even the "puppies".....they stay maintained, not fat and even my chihuahuas have plenty to "hummingbird" along on! My Frenchie gets 1/3 cup dry kibble with just hot tap water(enough to wet it it) and 2/3 cup kibble and 1/4 cup water with wet food(looks like oatmeal when stirred together) in the evening- no treats, no biscuits- if i give her treats, it is a handful of dry kibble while we train some commands. She has nylabones and soft toys to wrestle with- also I found out that the cow hooves I was giving my dogs to chew on worked as far as entertaining them and keeping them chewing but It did make them gassy and spit up here and there so I don't do those anymore. She is fit and athletic, I clean her face and her ears every third day- my other dogs "wipe her belly" and lick her for grooming so i don't do that unless she gets a bath! LOL

thanks a lot for the information! I will observe for the next 2 days. If it gets any worse, I'll go straight to the vet. Rocky is eating and playing like normal.

I will be sure to wipe his belly after going out for a walk and see if that helps. He has never been on the grass until the last 2 weeks. That may have caused the irritation. I guess at this point its hard to say huh!

Here is an update! Rocky is eating and playing just fine so I didn't book an appointment with the vet. I used polysporin for the last few nights and the red sores seemed to have improved a lot. Thanks for everyone's help!

Does the pup smell bad? There is an excellent article on here about allergies. I have written about our experience with our boy who is currently undergoing injections I give bi-weekly for allergies. Being on the dogs underside like that more than likely it's environmental allergies. He definitely needs to be wiped down after going in the grass. Bathe once per week and use a good anti-bacterial, anti-fungal shampoo and let it sit for 8-10 minutes before rinsing. Don't let him lay in grass and be sure the floors in the home are kept vacuumed and scrubbed. Beds, towels and blankets all get washed the same day as the bath. These guys are lots of work but so sweet. I've noticed that most of the owners of dogs with allergies have dogs with light colored coats. I rarely see a brindle owner complain.
