Hi Everyone,

I was away for 5 days and Valentina, now 8 months, stayed at my uncle's place. I found out when I got back that she was really misbehaving, peeing and pooing on his rugs! Is this because of the new environment/different routine? Or is she testing her boundries with my uncle?

She's been so good with me except for the couch incident. I've taken away her pee pads now and she'll just sit at the front door when she has to go out. She was still a little off her first day back home, a few pee accidents but seems back to normal now.

I'm worried about letting her stay at anyone's place in the future!

When it comes to having accidents, I feel no one besides myself takes my dogs out as much as I do. We have also had dog sitters come to the house and more accidents seem to occur because they aren't as diligent as I am when it comes to frequent outside trips. I would continue the strict potty training like you are now, and she will learn. New surroundings might have a lot to do with. Perhaps if she ever stays with your uncle again she will know the routine better.
Honestly my frenchie Marge is now almost 11 months old and we are still somewhat potty training. She rarely has accidents but still does once in a while. By far the hardest dog I have ever potty trained, but oh well, she is worth the work!

Yep, sometimes Frenchies will do that. They are little stinkers. :)

yep - sweet, little stinkers! Cheli did this at my sister's house - walked in the door and over to her sofa and lifted his leg -- I nearly died!

The embrassment.. He gives us all a look of see you should of let me on the couch. Little devil ha

First, Valentina can come stay with me in Atlanta anytime! I don't care how much she pees and poops on my floor! ;)

Second, I agree trishKidd, I don't think others take the pups out as much as we do, even if their job to do so.

Third, pups are like kids, they will act out when they aren't happy. I am sure she wasn't happy!!!

Aww, that's so sweet Bella May!

Is this something they grow out of? We had another incident when I was away a few weeks ago. This time I had someone stay at my place to watch her thinking she's behave better in her own home but I was wrong! She peed on the floor the day after I left for 3 days straight!!

Maybe it's separation anxiety?
