Jax threw up twice last night and twice this morning. I called the vet's office and they said to put him on a 24 hour fast and then give him a bland diet of chicken and rice and if he still continues to throw up, he needs to be seen. I've never had to feed him this diet before so do I just buy come chicken breast and boil it? Does he eat it warm, cold, room temp? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, boneless, skinless chicken breast, boiled, chopped and mixed with white rice. You can serve it warm or cold. You can also use extra lean ground beef, turkey or chicken boiled and mixed with white rice.

I hope Jax's tummy settles down with the bland diet. Whenever we have a puking dog I check for missing socks, toys, etc that might have been ingested.

Thanks, Alice! How much should I feed him tomorrow morning? I don't think Jax is not a sock eater, he just likes to throw them around. I did catch him eating some sort of little rubber piece last night and I saw a bit of that in his throw up last night. Not sure if that could be what's making him sick. Other than the vomiting, he has been acting normal. He hasn't pooped yet today which is a bit odd as he usually poops first thing in the morning when I take him out.

I would maybe divide up the bland diet and feed 1/2 to 3/4 cup between 3-4 meals throughout the day. Since you mentioned that Jax did eat a bit of rubber, that is more than likely the culprit of the excess vomiting. He will hopefully be just fine once he's managed throw up all the rubber, unless he has a blockage of some sort. If he stops vomiting and eats all you offer him tomorrow, then I would say it would be safe to put him back on his regular food. If not, then a trip to the vet for an x-ray may be in order. Best of luck... these darn bulldogs will eat anything!

Thanks! Jax finally pooped so that made me feel better. He is definitely running around acting normal so that's a good sign. I just hate that I don't know why is throwing up (sometimes I wish he could just tell me). He hasn't thrown up since this morning and I feel bad that he won't be getting dinner tonight but I know he won't starve to death and he'll get the chicken and rice in the morning. I am really hoping this just resolves itself and I won't have to take him in for an x-ray.

Poor Jax I hope he is feeling better soon x Hugo vomited up various parts of crab from the beach today all over my newly cleaned carpets :bad:

kitkatmummy25 he is better now. He must have just eaten too much grass. There's nothing like cleaning vomit off my bed in the middle of the night just for him to do it again!

Hope he gets to feeling better soon.
