Etoile is pretty healthy, though she came into FBRN with some allergy issues. However, a shift to a grain-free diet along with weekly baths and the itchies are kept at bay. Since the diet change and treatment her skin looks wonderful and she is happy and healthy! Her ears had yucky yeast infections when she came in but with proper maintenance care and monitoring she should be great! Etoile's forever family must be willing to keep her on a grain-free food and keep her skin and ears clean. This isn't too difficult to do and her foster mom will go over everything with her new family.
Etoile has a wonderful personality. She is sweet, gentle, quiet--but playful. She really loves people and needs a strong bond with at least one person in her family. She wants to cuddle whenever you are on the couch and is definitely in need of someone that will let her snuggle, cuddle and give kisses. She is an excellent listener and her foster family have worked hard teaching her not to jump super high when she gets excited! She is not terribly active but does love to play. She needs daily walks, playtime and, most of all, lots of time with her forever family.
Etoile's foster mom reports that "we have yet to see any creature she doesn't like!" Etoile has zero prey drive, so should get along with just about any other creature! She enjoys her current Frenchie foster brother but would be fine in a home without another dog. Kids are just fine, too! She is super tolerant and seems to love children of all ages!
This precious girl has never had an accident and is house trained and crate trained. Of course, she would really rather be with her family, but she'll do okay in her crate while you're out of the house. Etoile has no formal obedience training, but she comes when called, sits, and lies down.
One of Etoile's favorite ways to while away the hours is chewing on her horse or pig hooves! And she LOVES stuffies. The more the merrier, in her eyes!
Etoile could really go just about anywhere but she will need someone who understands the health issues of the breed. She has allergies and the family must be willing to keep her on her strict diet. As long as she has at least one person to bond with she will be in great shape. She should not be in a family where people are gone for long hours. She is fine with other dogs but doesn't need a furry friend to be happy. She would be best with a single owner, a couple or a family who wants to shower her with attention. Any children in the home must be old enough to understand she cannot have people food.
She would be great in a city apartment as long as she has walks. If she lives in a home, one with out stairs is best because she has trouble with them. Her years of crate life have given her a little limp and the vet suggests no stairs for her. If her people must work, she should be let out for walks if possible, but she has a great bladder and doesn't have accidents.
After early years of neglect she deserves someone who will dote on her and give her the care she should have had all along! If you want a buddy to join you at the office, then Etoile would be your girl! Her sweet temperament and easy going nature make her an ideal office pooch!
