Good Evening All,

I have a beautiful baby boy called Albi hes 9 weeks and adorable but when he plays he bites my hand hard and I'm after som advice. I correct him when he does it but I have my daughter who stays with me a few times a week and she's 19 months old and people have been saying Frenchies shouldn't be around small children they are not a good breed for small children but all the research I've done says they are amazing family pets and just after some advice for other owners who have gone through puppy stage and any advice?

Thank you all for letting me join this community

Any puppy/dog needs to be watched around children, the dog is only as good as the owner/training provided. If he is too much energy, which frenchies are, be sure to get him nice and tired before he interacts with your daughter. Walks, playtime this way he will be calmer when with her. Look into training classes to help you know how to train and keep him calm when you need him to be.

When Tucker was young, he would do that to me as well. He didn’t know any better, he was just playing, as all puppies want to do. I would just “yelp” loudly like a puppy and he would immediately stop because he WANTED to keep playing with his “litter mate” (a.k.a. ME!) He would then go back to playing with me, but more gently BECAUSE, like I stated, he didn’t want play time to stop. When he got rough again, I would yelp loudly again and he would immediately stop. He eventually learned to be gentle but it took about a month or so.

my puppies bite me til I think I'm gonna bleed I think this is very normal for all pups to go through and I agree with 2bullymama. everything she said is exactly what I thought when I read this post. train. train. train. try cat toys that you hold in your hand and let your puppy chase it across the floor or after playing give him a bath, dry him, and put him on a heating pad to sleep. something else you could try is a remote control car. let your baby sit with you and together drive the car and let your Frenchie chase it around. recommend outside only. my puppies chase remote control cars until I have to make them stop. when they come back inside they don't want to do anything but lay around and sleep.

Agreed every dog should be monitored around children despite how friendly they present. Blue would do that with me when she was a puppy. When she would bite hard I would stop and say no play nice consistently until she understood to play nice. When we play now she bites my thumb to show me that she’s caught me but it’s gentle …. She knows. Training is essential. Frenchies are just amazing, funny characters and so loving.
