Hey everyone,

I know Frenchies are kind of famous for being gassy, but I’m starting to wonder where “normal Frenchie gas” ends and “okay, this might be a real gut issue” begins.

My French Bulldog has always had some gas, but over the last few weeks:

  • the farts are more frequent
  • the smell is a lot stronger
  • his stools are sometimes softer than usual
No vomiting, he’s eating and playing normally, but with how sensitive this breed is (stomachs, allergies, BOAS, etc.) I don’t want to miss early warning signs again.

Because I’m a veterinary medical student, I ended up putting together a careful, non‑dramatic guide on:

  • why French Bulldogs are so prone to gas
  • what’s genuinely “normal” vs what should worry you
  • simple, safe changes that actually reduced gas in my Frenchie
  • when to stop trying home fixes and book a vet appointment
If anyone’s interested, it’s here:

I’d really love to hear your experiences too:

  • Does your Frenchie have this level of gas as well?
  • What actually helped (food changes, slow feeder, no table scraps, probiotics, etc.)?
  • Has anyone here discovered a real health problem that started out as “just gas”?
I think honest stories from other Frenchie owners could help a lot of people who are worried but aren’t sure when to take it seriously.
