Supplements yes or no?

Hello,
I have 2 frenchies Gizmo 4 and Greta 1 and half. They have been so great. Very entertaining all the time. I want them to continue to have a great life. But my issue is that like all frenchies allergies are the worse. For the life of me cannot figure out what makes their bellies always upset. They only get homemade food. I cook their food every week. Kibble from the beginning constantly gave them diarrhea never satisfied. They were always throwing up. TIL I started cooking their food. That stopped but they have acid and licking paws all the time and eating grass. My 1 year old has had few ear infections. I know she is allergic to grass but my 4 yr old isn’t. I guess my question is this what can I do to help with the itching and grass eating. I know it starts in the gut but I have tried Native pet, dog is human and fera pet. Acid for them doesn’t go away. I know they can’t have any chicken or beef. They eat turkey for protein, peas carrots, spinach also rice or quinoa. Also get fruit sometimes not everyday. Also pumpkin with every meal. So any suggestions would be great..

I fill a like a broken record saying this but, we were in the same boat. Feeding what we thought was high quality food and kibble. It wasn’t until a former poster on this board thankfully educated us on the benefits of feeding a raw diet. We use Raw Dog Food Company out of the Denver area. They ship the food anywhere in the US and it comes completely frozen on dry ice. I would recommend starting with changing their food if possible.

Agree with Jeff… going raw food removes practically 99%of the issues we experienced. It even lessens environmental allergies impact.

For acid reflux you can give as needed.. 10mg generic anti acid

Thank you for the advice. But my issue with companies that deliver is that the last few times we have tried they delivery was delayed and all the food was ruined.

The food we order always comes completely frozen in an insulated box containing dry ice. We have never had a issue.

Just to let you know I had my frenchie allergy tested and one thing that came back on her was she was alleric to Peas.. I have been giving her raw food with peas. I have felt so bad for her. I'm glad I did that test.. Thanks

When we picked our frenchie up the lady told us to give her the foriflora probiotics from Purina. Effies bowels have been very consistent and regular with not many episodes of diarrhea.

Sorry to hear Gizmo and Greta are having such a tough time. Frenchies can definitely be challenging when it comes to allergies because there isn't always a single cause.

Since you've already ruled out chicken and beef and are feeding a home-cooked diet, it might be worth looking at some of the other ingredients too. As another member mentioned, peas can sometimes be an issue for certain dogs, and keeping a simple food and symptom diary can help identify patterns over time. If the acid reflux, paw licking and ear infections continue together, I'd also be tempted to speak with a vet about whether environmental allergies or an underlying gut issue could be contributing.
